CUDP has also been pushing the XL series of the APC UPS systems to those purchasing new UPS systems. These systems allow you to add extra battery packs to the main unit at a fraction of the cost of the full units. Each battery pack adds about as much time as the main unit batteries provides (when all the batteries are new). In our office, we have one main unit with 3 extra battery packs. You can chain up to 10 battery packs onto the main units. These newer systems are more expensive, but they really offer great options. Another critical step is to ensure that appropriate equipment is attached to your main UPS. Identify what equipment is critical to keeping branches or 3rd party interfaces up and running and make sure that equipment is plugged into
your main battery backup. You may want to move other non-critical equipment to a secondary - lower cost UPS that would serve to help for minor power blips but not take away from the capacity on your main unit. Items such as printers and PC monitors should not be plugged into battery backups when possible as they draw a lot of power and will drain your batteries very fast. Battery Backup issues are very important to your business resumption and continuation plan. CUDP can help you with not only the equipment, but we can also provide consulting to clarify strategies, test systems, etc. So just give us a call if you need any help in these areas.
SDN Control List (OFAC) CU-TIP
One way to make your OFAC membership scan run faster and have fewer matches on the report is to take advantage of the Create Skip option. What this option does is excludes the member from matching the OFAC list until a skip thru date is reached. There are two ways to add a skip thru date to a member. The first way is when you search the member base, run the match in Display mode to see the matches on the screen. When a match is found it will ask you if you want to create a skip or add the item to the report. The second way is to use the OFAC menu option Edit Mbr Skips. This will allow you to manually add skips for individual members.
Interface for LoansPQ
CUDP has completed the upgrade to the LoansPQ interface. This new link now automates the import of the loans from the LoansPQ system for posting on the PDCU software. It also passes information to LoansPQ about existing loans which the member has. If you are using LoansPQ and do not have the
new interface yet - please contact us. If you are not using LoansPQ yet - you ought to - contact us for more information.
Update on Certegy (Fidelity) On-Line Interfaces
CUDP had completed the certification for the on-line interfaces with Certegy for Debit and Credit Cards. We have 2 credit unions scheduled to go live on the Debit Card interface in the next few months. If others are interested, they can begin the process to get into the queue to get changed over. We still have several programming changes to make and test before the
Credit Card side will be ready to bring in-house, and we hope to have that completed in the next 3-6 months as well. During all this, Certegy was purchased by Fidelity Information Services so we will be referring to this as FIS in the future.
